Last Epoch Speedleveling Guide
This guide details a highly optimized route to take a fresh character from level 1 all the way to early endgame content (Monoliths) in just over an hour and a half. The method leverages dungeon skip mechanic (the Temporal Sanctum) and efficient side quest routing to pick up passive points and idol slots without fully clearing the campaign.
Damage Mitigation: As you progress prioritize Physical Resistance initially.
Transition into Void Resistance for Act II and Act III.
Switch to Necrotic Resistance around Act IV as you face increased necrotic damage.
ACT I
Tips: Prioritize movement. Only engage necessary mobs and use downtime to manage inventory.
Initial Dash Out. Burning Forest
Immediately run to the next zone without fighting early mobs.
In the Burning Forest , head east and unlock the NPC ally . Click top dialog option (gives AoE & freeze support) .
Defeat the first Forge Soldier mini boss with your ally’s help and proceed eastwards to Keepers' Camp .
Keepers' Camp to Highlands
Proceed to the Gardens , without NPC interuction. From there to Fortress Walls . Soon after the local boss, speak with Heoborean Soldier to accept your first side quest.
Run north into the Store Rooms , fight another Forge Soldier mini boss, interact with a nearby Siege Golem , and then turn in the quest.
Follow main quest mark through the Keepers' Vault . Talk to the Keeper Balthas to start the event, but SKIP helping with it.
After crossing a bridge at the Northen Road , interact with a Keeper Guard . During brief roleplay sequence, take the opportunity to sort your inventory.
When prompted, teleport back to the Keepers' Camp and speak with Keeper Leena .
Highlands & Summit Encounters
From Keepers' Camp , head east to the Highlands . Take out large, rare mobs for rare drops — these early upgrades help your sustain.
At the Summit , face the Act I boss. Then return to Keepers' Camp for the next phase. Talk to NPCs.
ACT II
Tips: Use downtime between fights to upgrade your gear and manage inventory.
Focus on Void Resistance for Act II and Act III.
Council Chambers & Last Archive
Run through Crumbling Ruins straight to the next zone.
At Last Refuge Outskirts , skip the first NPC and immediately accept a side quest.
Talk to all three NPCs in the area (southern before northern), then arrive at the Council Chambers .
Speak with Captain Leora and turn in the quest.
Also, visit Elder Gaspar to turn in a quest and grab your idols. Proceed to the left zone.
Archive Library Quest
In the Last Archive , enter the Erza’s Library for a side quest.
Proceed forward until you find the Ledger ; defeat the monsters guarding it.
Take the Ledger and return to the previous zone. Proceed Pannion's Study , defeat the spawned “students”.
Teleport back to the Council Chambers , talk to Elder Gaspar .
Turn on the side quest. You must choose between two rewards:
Avarice Gloves from Elder: Provide elemental resistance and leech (recommended).
Gambler’s Fallacy from Gambler: Offers a crit bonus if that fits your build better.
Precipice
Enter the Precipice and follow the main quest marker.
Kill the Idol of Ruin to spawn a portal on the left that takes you into the subsequent zone.
Ancient Cavern, Armory, and Lower District
Ancient Cavern : Move left and loop around to locate a Time Rift .
Go to the right and enter the Armory ’s small arena—clear all mobs and the spawned boss quickly.
Skip stopping at the forge (crafting here is nonessential).
Lower District boss: Defeat the main boss of Act II, then progress to the End of Time via a spawned portal.
Mastery Unlock
At the End of Time , speak with the NPC to the right, turn in the quest, and climb a ramp to unlock your Mastery. Turn in the quest again.
ACT III
Return & Cultist Camp
After unlocking Mastery, head back to Council Chambers to turn in your quest to Elder Gaspar .
Proceed bottom-right to open a door (skip additional NPC dialogues as they’ll appear later).
Enter the Sheltered Wood => Surface => Forsaken Trial => Cultist Camp .
Welryn Docks & Void Centipede
Skip talking any NPCs. Exit Cultist Camp by heading South into the Welryn Docks .
Follow the main quest marker in the direction of waypoint, then defeat a Void Centipede mini boss — interact with statue for the Symbol of Hope quest.
Teleport back to town.
Ruins of Wellin & Ritual Site
Top-left exit to the Ruins of Wellin . Skip mobs for the side quest.
At Welryn Undercity - speak to the Last Imperial NPC and clear out the three Soul Repositories to complete a quest.
DO NOT use the path from reward. Teleport back to Cultist Camp for a more convenient path.
Once you enter the Ritual Site , shift focus solely to the main quest (side quests will be revisited later) .
Move through Shattered Valley => Courtyard => Teple of Eterra => Lotus Halls
Lotus Halls
Once you reach the Lotus Halls , immediately run to the left. You do not need to follow the quest marker—stick close to the left wall.
Continue hugging the left side wall until you reach the end where the path curves off to the right
Run into the small room until you locate a statue. Interact with this statue to open up a portal.
When the portal spawns, go through it, and pick up the Shard that appears.
Instead of continuing through the newly spawned portal, teleport back to the previous zone Temple of Eterra first, then teleport back into the Lotus Halls .
Reason: Exiting and re-entering town forces an interaction with matchmaking servers, which on launch can lead to long load screens. This maneuver helps avoid those delays if playing online.
Back in the Lotus Halls , you only need one Shard to activate the bridge.
Run down, activate the bridge, and pass through into the Sanctum area.
Once through, follow the right-side wall to progress toward the boss of Act III.
After kill - reach the End of Time , run up the ramp, turn in your quest, and then enter the portal that spawns to head into Act IV.
ACT IV
Tips: At this point in the story, Necrotic Resistance becomes increasingly important because you’re nearly done with most of the Void damage you’d normally take. Begin transitioning your gear to favor Necrotic Resistance.
Walkthrough via ACT IV
Make your way through Welryn Outskirts . Once you entered Imperial Welryn go to the quest marker and kill mini-boss, interact with Outcast Prisoner NPC here and continue to the North-Western exit.
In the Soul Wardens’ Road , complete zombie gate event .
At the Risen Lake SKIP the Time Rift near the waypoint.
Talk to the Outcast Seer , clear event , talk again and head back East towards the Act boss.
Reach Dradnought's Deck . Approach Admiral Harton (the Act IV boss), defeat him, and then interact with the caged NPC .
Jump off the ship’s north side to enter The Shining Cove .
The Shining Cove : Quickly speak with Alric , then continue towards the next main quest objective.
In Majasan Desert , on the bridge before transitioning zone, talk to the Rouj Zabat .
Follow through objectives till reach Oracle’s Abode .
ACT V to Monoliths
Oracle’s Abode
Once you reach Oracle’s Abode , speak with the Shrine Maiden to accept a side quest.
Continue on to the Oracle to turn in the quest that will grant extra passive points.
Completing Skipped Side Objectives
Open your map and travel to the Ruined Era , then head to the Shattered Valley waypoint.
Head north to the Abandoned Tunnel and complete the side quest (find and pick up the tomb ).
Teleport back to Shattered Valley after.
Run South through a Time Rift into the Ancient Forest .
Proceed North-East until you reach the quest marker for the Primeval Dragon boss and defeat him.
Turning In Side Quests & Gearing Up
After defeating the Primeval Dragon , open your map, go to the Ruined Era and teleport back to the Council Chambers .
Turn in both quests (one rewards gold, the other grants idol slots).
Next, go to the Imperial Era and teleport to the Risen Lake waypoint.
Head North through another Time Rift and defeat the Idol of Ruin for additional rewards.
Final Steps Before the Skip
Teleport back to the Imperial Era near The Shining Cove (close to Maj'Elka ).
Enter the Rift . Defeat the Ortra'ek the Survivor and pick up the Sapphire Tablets (located on the table).
Enter the Temporal Sanctum dungeon entrance and unlock its waypoint.
Go back to the Imperial Era and then teleport back to Oracle’s Abode to turn in the Sapphire Tablets quest.
Monoliths
With all pre–skip questing complete (passives, idols, and essential rewards secured), immediately head back to the End of Time .
Jump into Monoliths; even at around level 30–31, a well-optimized build can handle early Monolith challenges.
You should now be farming normal Monoliths until you find your Temporal Sanctum key .
Temporal Sanctum and ACT IX
The Temporal Sanctum Dungeon
Preparation: Aim to be in the mid-60s or higher.
Once you’ve acquired a Temporal Sanctum key from your Monolith runs, right‑click it.
This instantly opens the corresponding map spot and transports you to the Temporal Sanctum's entrance in the Ruined Era .
Open your map and travel to the Ruined Era , then head to the Shattered Valley Waypoint.
At the entrance, walk up to the door and insert your key. Click “Enter Sanctum” and select Tier 1 to begin the dungeon run.
Tips: Make sure your movement and escape skills are ready.
Complete Dungeon. After defeating Chronomancer Julra head to the back entrance where you will find an Eternity Cache .
Even if you do not craft a legendary, you must interact with the cache in the Divine Era ; doing so opens a gate that leads directly into Act IX.
Transitioning into ACT IX
At the new waypoint, run East until you hit a blocked wall. Then, veer South and prepare to engage the next mini boss Scalebane Swarmkeeper .
Kill the mini boss. Directly beneath its spawn, you’ll find an NPC locked in a cage.
Break the cage to free Zerrick , then run back North toward the original barricade — which should now be open.
Desert Treasure and Maj'Elka Transition
As you proceed East from the open barricade, look for a side area (a small vault not marked on your map) related to a Desert Treasure side quest.
Enter the vault and kill the large rare mob inside.
This enemy will drop the Desert Treasure item on the ground. Pick it up, then exit the vault via the same route.
Upon arriving at Maj'Elka , you will encounter a long bridge. To save time:
Instead of crossing it, run back to the Radiant Dunes .
Open your map and teleport to the Maj'Elka waypoint (it is unlocked now).
Once in Maj'Elka Upper District , run straight to the Lower District . NO NPC interactions are required here .
In the Lower District , look for the icon marking Ruby Commander .
Approach and kill him, then return the way you came to a fork in the path. Follow it down to the next area.
At the end you will face a Scalebane Bodyguard .
Dialogue Tip: Spam‑click the TOP dialogue option .
If you bribe him, you risk losing significant amount of gold (100,000). Stick to the top dialogue option and choose to fight instead.
Maj'Elka Slums, Quest Turn‑Ins, and Faction Unlock
Once you enter the Maj'Elka Slums , skip the first quest marker on the left and instead go to the next marker on the right.
Hand over the Desert Treasure at the designated NPC. This turn‑in nets you some gold.
Proceed to the last quest location in the Slums . Find and kill the mini boss — the Scalebane Guild Leader .
After defeating this enemy, teleport back to Maj'Elka Upper District .
Once back in the Upper District , speak with Zerrick . Turn in any pending quests here. From Zerrick , proceed to the Oasis at the North-Western exit.
Here, Zerrick will be waiting. Choose whether to visit the Bazaar or the Observatory; this decision unlocks your chosen faction.
The Mines, Temple, and Final Boss Fight
Once you get to the Oasis , run South-West towards textured square wich will start a side quest.
Keep running to the left and follow new questmarker. Kill the Spine Hunter Alpha at Spinehunter Den. Move East then.
Accept a side quest from Mahraan Zabat NPC located outside the Mine.
Work through the Crystal Mines by heading North-West until you reach the side quest marker.
Defeat the Crystal Lotus mini boss. Continue East toward the main quest.
In the Aerie , head upward to speak with Zerrick again and then proceed West toward a Large Avian main quest marker.
Kill the Siege Golem at this marker.
Talk to Zerrick to board the bird, which transports you to the Majasan Heights .
Clear any mobs that spawn; the bird will eventually landing on Temple Rooftops .
Run South-East toward the waypoint, then curve North-East through looping paths until you find the entrance to the Upper Temple .
At the Upper Temple run in North-East direction. Once inside Lower Temple , you will encounter Apophis . After encounter, continue to North-East part of the room towards last boss area.
In the Chamber of Vessels , battle Majasa — the final boss of ActT IX:
Avoid standing directly in front of her stone beam to prevent being stunned. Kill spawned crystals (will make it twice).
During her second phase, she stops summoning crystals and attacks more frequently. Focus on mobility and dodge her attacks.
Once Majasa is defeated, approach Apophis for one final conversation that ultimately teleports you to the End of Time — securing your +1 to All Attributes bonus.
Post-Campaign Completion
After finishing Act IX and earning your bonus, teleport back to the Divine Era , head to the Oasis and turn in the quest related to the Crystal Lotus .
After that teleport back to the Mak'Elka Upper District . Turn in the last quest to Ritolo the Trader (this will help you get passive rewards in case you missed some step earlier) .
Campaign Finished.
At this point, all campaign quests and side objectives have been completed. You will have:
- All Idol Slots unlocked.
- Every Passive reward secured.
- A fully credited +1 to All Attributes.
Now, you can freely continue your Monolith progression and focus on gearing up for endgame challenges.
